How to Clear your DNS Cache

While very rare, sometimes after a server move or upgrade, either to us from another provider or between our servers, you cannot access your site. Often times this situation is very temporary, but we have compiled this page to help you in case this does happen and you need immediate access to your website and/or e-mail. This is caused by old DNS settings that your cable modem, DSL router, or other software or hardware device is caching too long.

To clear up this problem, first try this (do not go to your site during any of these steps until the end):

  • Clear all History, Temporary Internet Files, and shut down your computer.
  • While your computer is rebooting, unplug any cable or DSL modem from the power from the wall, then wait 1 minute, plug DSL/cable modem back in, and wait 1 minute, then turn on computer again.
  • Once you get back in, try to go to the site.

If this does not clear up the problem, you can either wait for the new settings to propagate to your machine (this shouldn't take very long), or perform the following procedure to force your computer to access the new site.
