Managing Multiple Domains with Webmin

This article will show you how to manage multiple domains and subdomains in Webmin.

A Brief Tour of Webmin

The best way to explain the features of the Webmin control panel is to first show you a graphical description of the primary interface:

This graphic details what each menu looks like with the + item besides it expanded, showing all of the options. These menus affect the currently selected domain, chosen from the top select box and confirmed with the green arrow button to the right of it.

Creating a New Virtual Server (Domain)

Webmin calls websites or subdomains "virtual servers", but it is easier to think of them simply in terms of domains or websites. To add a new website, click the "Create Virtual Server" link in the left hand menu. You will see a dialog similar to this:

You really only have to enter the domain name in this form. In the above example, mywebsite.com has been entered. Do NOT put the www. in front of the domain when entering this. You can also select the features you wish to have on the new website. If you are going to need a database on this new site, make sure you have "Mail and FTP Users" checked as well as the database type you want.
