Introduction
You can upload and download files from your account via Internet Explorer's built-in FTP capabilities. While this is fine for quick jobs, we recommend using a fully featured FTP client for most tasks like FileZilla. For more information on FileZilla, please see our article titled Using_FileZilla.
Instructions
Getting Started
Launch Internet Explorer and type the following into your address bar:
Replace "username" with your FTP username, and yoursite.com with your website, and hit ENTER on your keyboard (or click the "Go" button on the far left hand side of the address bar).
Logging In
Internet Explorer will present you with a dialog similar to this one:
In this example, we are using the username "jim". Replace this with your username, and enter your password. Make sure that Save Password is checked if you do not want to enter these details again, and click "Log On".
Working With Your Files
Once you successfully connect, you'll see a display similar to this:
We have highlighted the "public_html" folder for you. This folder is where your website files need to be uploaded to. If you've installed an instance of Ruby on Rails, you will see the "rails_sites" folder, along with your Rails instances.
You can simply drag and drop files into this window as you would any other Explorer window. You can also use the Copy / Cut and Paste facilities of Windows as well.
